Interpretation of MDI score
MDI is used as a scoring tool for depression symptoms in patients who have been diagnosed with depression. The patient is then asked to answer the questions regarding the last week.
The diagnosis of depression is made on the basis of a conversation with qualified healthcare personnel, possibly supplemented by a survey form. When the MDI is used as a survey form when making a diagnosis, the patient is asked to answer the questions regarding the last two weeks.
The sum of the ten questions indicates the degree of depression. For questions 8, 9 and 10, where there are two answer options (a) and (b), our test automatically selects the answer option (a or b) that has the highest score. The theoretical sum score therefore goes from 0 (no depression) to 50 (maximum depression).
